Job Description

The Operating Projects unit within the Program Management division is seeking a knowledgeable individual who would like a career at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory as a Multi-Discipline Engineer. The Operating Projects Engineering group provides tasking (defined work scopes) to the Program Subcontractor for execution. The Program Subcontractor is staffed with Project Managers, Engineering, Environmental, Safety & Health Professionals, Quality Assurance, Radiological Control Technicians, and Craft Workers. The Program Subcontractor provides NNL a turnkey operation for performing maintenance, construction, system upgrades, and equipment installation in the NRF radiological, environmental, and secured areas.

Responsibilities in this position may include:

  • Acts as the support interface between NNL and the Program Subcontractor
  • Works directly with NNL Program Managers, stakeholders & system owners to properly track project progress of work for the Program Subcontractor
  • Participates in planning, development, management, and closeout of tasks assigned to the Program Subcontractor
  • Ensures the Program Subcontractor is tracking within project cost estimates, and schedules. Also, will help with funding tracking with contractual agreements.
  • Responsible to maintain records of the changes in work that may be needed during the Program Subcontractors execution of work.
  • Interfaces with NNL project engineers and system owners to resolve technical issues or questions with the tasks, and interfaces with other FMP Project Managers on reporting subcontractors progress on construction related projects.
  • Keeps managers and project team members informed of project execution status for multiple simultaneous projects

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 9 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 7 years of relevant experience; or Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part II qualified; or qualified SIT and 3 years EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or Currently or previously CRE qualified; or 6 years as SRE; or SRE qualified and 9 years of experience.

  • Previous or current Project Analyst experience
  • Experience with technical writing
  • Experience with cost estimating

Pay Range

$103,100.00 - $161,100.00 annually

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
